Liana & Eimhin’s adorable black & white engagement film

7 Jun

Imagine an afternoon filled with a sweet canoe trip under a paper parasol, vinyl records playing during a romantic picnic, kite flying with your sweetheart, and a game of scrabble under the sun. This is how Liana & Eimhin spent one afternoon together last summer, and it was all captured on our vintage movie cameras.

Liana & Eimhin came to us because they wanted a unique engagement film for their lo-fi themed wedding. So we brought our 16mm cameras and spent a day filming this adorable couple. We then carefully edited the footage by hand using a vintage flatbed editing system. Next, we hand-processed and printed their film to create the special beauty and texture that only real film can provide.

Their final film was unveiled last month at their wedding reception at the Canadian Museum of Nature. What makes L&E’s film even more unique is the actual 16mm print was screened on a custom looping system – no video projection here – fitting in perfectly with their analogue wedding theme.

Thank you to talented ladies at Sparrow Floral Design for the loop table decor and to Derrick Rice and his team of Union Eleven for capturing this image of the film installation moments before guests entered the salon.

Liana & Eimhin’s engagement film premiered at their wedding last month and is now online! Keep in mind this is a just basic telecine transfer of their final film and this version does not represent the true stunning beauty of watching a 16mm film the way it was meant to be screened: projected on film.
