Looking back at 2011 I’m reminded how amazing this past year has been. I wanted to take this opportunity to express warm thanks to all of our wonderful clients for trusting us with such important and special moments, and to our friends and families who love and support us.

So as our last post for 2011, we’re sharing a non-First Kiss film, but it’s a festive one that’s quickly becoming an online hit. Plus it’s made by none-other than my husband with a cameo by yours truly. :)

Wishing you all the best in 2012!
xo Bridget

Yumi & Barry thought they wanted their wedding captured on video, until they saw our work on Style Me Pretty. And I’m so happy they found us!

This adorable, fun, and loving couple were such a joy to work with and their wedding was seriously amazing! Did I mention they are super creative as well? Until Y&B’s vintage wedding film is featured on the blog next week, get a glimpse of the bride & groom’s creativity  by watching their own save the date video creation which was featured on Wedthings, the Wedding Bells blog.

Yumi & Barry’s lovenote to { First Kiss Films }:

“HI Bridget!!

We LOOOVE our film!! Thank you so much for doing such an amazing job. You captured  our day so beautifully. We have so many favorite moments. We love the music, the sounds. We are so happy to have this keepsake for the years to come. By the way, our families and friends LOVED the film. We were all laughs, smiles, misty and teary eyed… I relive the day and all the feelings I felt whenever I watch it.  Barry and I have watched it so many times. We still can’t get over how lucky we were to have you film our day. Thanks again so very much!!!

Yumi and Barry

PS:  I am so pleased that you got our dog, Sydney on film too! And she winked at us :) – it was great!!! hehe”

Andrea & Bryan’s romantic seaside wedding in Jamaica

30 Aug

Sun, surf, and lots and lots of love.

Andrea & Bryan’s island paradise celebration was everything you’d imagine in a destination wedding inspired by the vibrant colours of the Caribbean. Magical beauty was everywhere with stem upon stem of colour-drenched orchids, an ocean-backdrop ceremony and tiki torches illuminating the beach during dinner and dancing under the stars.

Like many couples who decide to have a destination wedding, A&B hosted a reception back home. Since it was scheduled three weeks after their wedding day, their vintage film was a special rush delivery so they could screen it at their reception in Alberta. It was a very tight deadline but we managed to have it ready so their 100+ reception guests could experience their gorgeous wedding. And now you can experience it too!

Thank you Andrea & Bryan, for inviting { First Kiss Films } to film your sunset vows in Jamaica. It was such a pleasure being there to capture your love and see your adorable and infectious smiles light up the screen!

UPDATE: This film was featured on Jete Fete.

One love

23 Aug

 “One love, One heart
Let’s get together and feel all right.”

~ Bob Marley ~

The Caribbean light, cool breeze, an intimate gathering and the sweet beachside smiles of a freshly wed couple….what a perfect recipe for vintage cinema. A few words of thanks from the newlyweds:

“LOVE IT!!! AWESOME!!!! We both loved it and your music choices were great. We are soooo happy with it. We are both looking forward to sharing it with the family! I can’t wait to go and show it off. You captured the moments perfectly!!!!
Love, Bryan & Andrea”

A&B’s wedding film will be posted next – watch it and feel like you were a guest at this heartwarming sun & sand celebration.

Looking to give a meaningful Mother’s Day gift this year? How about making a donation in your mom’s name towards heart health research?

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute recently released this touching video as part of their iheartmom.ca campaign. The video features Olympic figure skating Bronze Medallist Joannie Rochette raising awareness for the number one killer of women. It will likely be an especially difficult Mother’s Day for Joannie whose mother suddenly died during the Olympic games from an undiagnosed heart condition.

The campaign focuses on women because heart disease is often associated with men. Personally, when I hear of heart conditions, I usually assume people are talking about men, partially because a few years ago my father had serious heart issues but has since become a spokesperson for health.

(You might be wondering what my dad is holding in the image on the right – it’s a pogo stick! You might assume that the pogo stick was selected for the image as a metaphor for youthful physical fitness but actually it is used as part of my dad’s workout regimen).

There is one extra reason why { First Kiss Films } is sharing the iheartmom video: my hubby wrote and directed it!
