Katie & Sungwoo’s grand garden wedding

30 Nov

For the two years before Katie & Sungwoo were married, they endured a long distance relationship. During this period in their lives, the lyrics of certain songs seemed to echo their thoughts for each other.  So when it was time to discuss music ideas for their vintage wedding film, the song with the lyric “everytime we say goodbye, I wish we had one more kiss” was a must. It not only resonated with them while they were dating, but represented how they felt today as well.

The wedding was a beautiful celebration that playfully blended Korean traditions with lots of contemporary style – quite impressive considering most of this Toronto wedding was planned by the bride from Korea. And it was as though Katie’s endearing multifaceted personality was represented in her outfit changes that day: from a gorgeous white wedding gown, to traditional Korean clothing, to finally a sparkly dance outfit for a lighthearted choreographed dance at the end of the night.

Congratulations Katie & Sungwoo, we hope you continue to dance together for the rest of your lives.

You always make me smile

16 Nov

There is no greater compliment than to have past clients recommend our services to family and friends. So we were very grateful when Yumi & Barry shared our work with Katie & Sungwoo we had the opportunity to create a vintage wedding film for another fabulous couple.

And with such perfect timing, Mr. Postman delivered a handwritten card of thanks from the newlyweds just yesterday (along with a few surprises – thank you Katie & Sungwoo!) Here’s a snippet of their sweet sentiments:

“We just saw the video and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for the beautiful movie, it was wonderful to relive our wedding day and we loved how you captured it! You are truly talented. We loved the film and also the little packaging with popcorn! Thank you again!”

Their vintage wedding film will be shared soon and we promise it will make you smile!

Moroccan-inspired style shoot

6 Nov

Talented photographer and good friend Amna Hakim is always coming up with fabulous creative shoot concepts such as Old Bollywood Glamour and South Asian High Tea. Her latest vision involved an exotic black and gold palette and a Moroccan-inspired theme and with the help of Toast Events and some amazing models and vendors this concept grew into yet another incredible style shoot.

As I’ve always wanted to experiment with filming 16mm film underwater, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to work with model Michaela and add some dreamy black and gold imagery to the teaser film for this style shoot. Shooting underwater with these heavy, manual cameras was by far the biggest challenge I’ve experienced thus far!

I know this teaser will leave you wanting more so be sure to visit www.amnahakim.com tomorrow to view every last detail as gorgeously captured by Amna Hakim Photography.
